About Us

Melvin’s Morsels is the story of Melissa & Tevin (Melvin), a husband-and-wife team with a love for homemade things, a weakness for cookies, and a desire to create products that bring a little more joy into everyday life.

And for us, joy is more than just a word in our tagline - it’s Melissa’s middle name. It feels fitting that a business built around sharing handmade things would come back to something that has quite literally been part of her all along.

We met in college, have known each other for more than a decade, and have been married for seven years. Manhattan has been home for the past ten years, and this summer our little family grew when we welcomed our first baby. 

In a way, cookies have been part of our story from the very beginning.

The first thing Melissa ever baked for Tevin back in college was a batch of cookies made with chickpeas and homemade chocolate. Melissa knew Tevin was a healthy gym-going guy and wanted to impress him with his favorite treat. The cookies were quite memorable. They were, in Tevin’s words, “inedible”. Even the geese at the local park weren’t interested. 

Thankfully, Tevin stuck around.

And Melissa kept baking.

Cookies have always been Tevin’s favorite treat, so when the idea for Melvin’s Morsels began taking shape, it felt fitting that cookies would be at the heart of it. The name Melvin comes from combining our names - Melissa + Tevin - making the business a little piece of both of us.

There’s also a reason every cookie we make is gluten-free. For several years, Melissa dealt with severe ulcerative colitis. During that season, she found that dietary modifications were one of the most helpful tools in managing how she felt. Gluten and Melissa eventually got back on speaking terms, but somewhere along the way, gluten-free baking stopped feeling like a substitute and simply became the way we liked our cookies best. We are gluten-free not because the cookies have to be, but because after years of tweaking, testing, and plenty of taste-testing, we genuinely think they taste better that way.

We actually planned to begin this adventure last fall in 2025. We baked the cookies, took the photos, and were ready to start building something of our own.

Then, the very same day we photographed those first cookies, we found out Melissa was pregnant.

So Melvin’s Morsels waited for a new chapter.

Now, with our son here and a whole new season of life beginning, we’re finally bringing that dream to fruition.

The heart behind Melvin’s Morsels goes back even further. Melissa grew up with a mom who taught her that some of the best gifts are the ones made by hand. Whether it was crafting, creating, or learning a new artisan skill, homemade things were always about more than the finished product - they were a way of showing someone that they’re loved. 

That joy of making has stayed with Melissa ever since. She has always been quick to pick up a new craft and make it her own, which eventually led to soapmaking, dessert-inspired bath products, baking, and even the storytelling woven throughout our collections. 

What begins as a fragrance, a cookie, or a bar of soap often turns into a character, a story, or a little experience we get to share with you.

That is really what we hope Melvin’s Morsels becomes.

A place for freshly baked gluten-free cookies, handcrafted bath treats, playful stories, and the joy of giving or receiving something that is homemade.

We’re proud to call Manhattan Kansas home, and we’re especially excited to serve the community that has been ours for the last decade while also sharing our creations with people farther away.

Whether you’re picking up a box of cookies to share around the table, choosing a soap that looks suspiciously like dessert, or following along as our latest “character” gets introduced, we hope there’s a little joy in it for you.
